While walking in a vast landscape the artist tripped and fell multiple times. The cause of each stumble was a series of dead manzanita branches scattered across the landscape. From these branches bronze casts were made, becoming an archive of each of these unexpected moments. For this work each of these sculptures is paired with two photographs that depict cloud formations; one that is original, and one that is a mirrored copy. Together the works become a tribute to the struggle to truly be ‘in the moment’; a symbol of the multifaceted nature of a singular perspective and how complicated it is to articulate and translate the nature of a given experience.
