An image of the peak of Mount Shasta in Northern California is strapped to the artist’s back as he walks in the desert holding a cassette recorder that is playing a recording of his own voice. A musical harmony of chanting voices is created as different scenes unfold, overlapping sounds onto the next. This anticipates the protagonist’s journey as he ‘harmonizes’ the images of Shasta with his surroundings, aligning the image with mountains in the distance. Visual and sonic layering becomes emblematic of a questionable endeavor to unify anticipatory thoughts and expectations with actualized experiences. This culminates in a rhythmical neon outline of Shasta pulsing to the beat of an 80’s Casiotine keyboard; an inconclusive attempt to muster a synergy between visual representation, musical interpretation and emotional comprehension.
