During sunset after a storm in the Eastern Sierra in California, clouds above appeared as if they wanted to be placed into some lost romantic ideal, appearing to insistently associate themselves with paintings from the past. In that moment it appeared as if they were trying a little too hard, becoming a sentimental depiction of themselves, tipping into an almost kitsch-like solipsism. A rock was thrown into the air as an attempt to interrupt their indulgent parade across the sky, hoping to thwart the clouds’ synergy by rupturing and complicating their version of a pictorial ideal. These pieces are both a record and illustration of this event.
